Being attacked by a demon in Philadelphia shouldn’t have been a big deal. Tarian Xannon is, after all, heir to the Dolphin Throne and the strongest magical talent in generations.
Never mind that demons aren’t even supposed to exist. Never mind that the demon managed to swipe some of her blood. She’s never met her match before and she’s confident she can handle the situation.
She creates a plan to find the demon, and kill him, before he destroys her, or worse, steals her power and the Dolphin Throne.
Of course, she hadn't counted on the throne insisting that now would be a great time for her to provide the next heir.
She’s a modern woman with a demon to kill, and a baby to produce. What could possibly go wrong?

My Review:
Tarian Xannon is the daughter and heir to the Dolphin
Throne. Tarian is not happy about her
role as heir, and has put it off any way she can. At the beginning of the book we find Tarian
tracking an individual who has escaped jail, at the request of a friend. The situation turns ugly when a demon arrives
on the scene scratching her and tasting her blood. Now, Tarian has to find the demon and stop
him before he uses her as a weapon against her own court. In the midst of all this, the Dolphin Throne
begins the succession ritual, whether Tarian wants it or not. With less than a week before the demon takes
over complete control, Tarian is also supposed to mate with three men in order
to produce an heir to the throne. Faced
with the impossible, Tarian kicks it into high gear to try to save her
family. Will she succeed? Will a certain private detective be one of
her mates? You’ll have to read and find
out.
I liked the story over all.
It had good writing, good character development and strong
world-building. Tarian is a strong
female, who takes no crap from anyone.
She is good at her job tracking and hunting. She is independent but has a strong love of
her family. Her major flaw, is that she
is stubborn. She doesn’t want to follow
the advice of her friends and coworkers.
She could die from the demon scratch but refuses to go right to the
infirmary even though her friends plead with her. She refuses to follow the advice of her mother
and her advisor about the way to handle the situation. Does her stubbornness get her in trouble, oh
yes! But I won’t tell you how, you’ll
have to read that bit yourself.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in the
series.
