Review: Into the Hollow by Karina Halle

Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6)Into the Hollow by Karina Halle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

OMG! This book wasn't really about ghosts, but it still scared the tar out of me regardless. Dex and Perry go off to an alleged Sasquatch siting in the Canadian Rockies. Dex doesn't want Perry to go back on the show after what happened in On Demon Wings. Perry wants to get back into the swing of things and get paid so she can move out of Dex's house, as she still can't go home, but she also doesn't want to keep living with Dex as she is conflicted about her feelings. Dex finally relents, thinking this whole Sasquatch thing is a scam and what danger could Perry be in? WRONG!!!! Dex and Perry should both know better. Besides being stuck in a cabin with a psycho woman hater that loves to kill animals, there is weird growling, scratching at the window and dead animals. The three are crazy enough to go into the woods camping to go look for it - psycho woman hater wants to kill and mount the beast on his wall. Out in the middle of nowhere with no working cell phones and walking talkies that don't work, all hell breaks lose. EEEE! I won't spoil it for you, but I didn't sleep the night I finished.

Goodread Synopsis

Perry Palomino has fought her demons – and won – but the battle is far from over. She’s now left broken and on her own, leaving behind her life and family in Portland to focus on giving Dex Foray – and the Experiment in Terror show – a second chance. But their past mistakes continue to tease and test their relationship, as does the wild and desolate terrain of the Canadian Rockies. The snow-covered peaks and ravenous forests hide an urban legend too unbelievably frightening to be true and the only way the duo has a chance of surviving is if Perry can let in the very man who sent her to hell and back.

About the Author

*Represented by Scott Waxman of the Waxman Leavell Literary Agency*

The daughter of a Norwegian Viking and a Finnish Moomin, Karina Halle grew up in Vancouver, Canada with trolls and eternal darkness on the brain. This soon turned into a love of all things that go bump in the night and a rather sadistic appreciation for freaking people out. Like many of the flawed characters she writes, Karina never knew where to find herself and has dabbled in acting, make-up artistry, film production, screenwriting, photography, travel writing and music journalism. She eventually found herself in the pages of the very novels she wrote (if only she had looked there to begin with).

Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography have appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently lives on an island on the coast of British Columbia where she's preparing for the zombie apocalypse.

This sounds so scary. And they definitely got more than they bargained for. Great review.
