Rocky Road Book Blast and Giveaway
Rocky Road
It was supposed to be a girls’ weekend in scenic St. George, Utah that would include shopping, trying out the local cuisine, and participating in a breast cancer fundraiser. The fact that one of the organizers of the fundraising event, a local doctor, disappeared two months ago was not supposed to be Sadie’s problem. In fact, she refuses to participate in the grassroots investigation her friend Caro, and Caro’s cousin, Tess, have put together prior to her arrival. But then she meets the ex-wife of the missing doctor. How could she not ask a few questions . . . that lead to a few more questions . . . that lead to a small town and yet even more questions. Before she knows it, Sadie is in the middle of yet another murder investigation and trying to piece together a convoluted trail of good intentions, hidden motivations, and philanthropy turned big business.

The Pitcher Book Blast & Giveaway
The Pitcher “I never knew I had an arm until this guy called out, “Hey you want to try and get a ball in the hole, sonny?” I was only nine, but mom said, “come on, let’s play.” This Carney guy with no teeth and a fuming cigarette hands me five blue rubber balls and says if I throw three in the hole we win a prize. He’s grinning, because he took mom’s five bucks and figures a sucker is born every minute. That really got me, because we didn’t have any money after Fernando took off, and he only comes back to beat up mom and steal our money. So I really wanted to get mom back something, you know, for her five bucks.” A boy with a golden arm but no money for lessons. A mother who wants to give her son his dream before she dies. A broken down World Series pitcher who cannot go on after the death of his wife. These are the elements of The Pitcher. A story of a man at the end of his dream and a boy whose dream is to make his high school baseball team. For Nick by Taylor Dean Book Blast & Giveaway
For Nick What would you do for love? Zachary Drake had love in his life—and tragically lost it. He knows it won’t come his way again. Andie Parker would do anything for the love of her life. Even marry a total stranger. In spite of the unorthodox manner in which Zach and Andie come together, there is no denying that things are unexpectedly good between them, taking them both by surprise. However, when secrets come between them—and trust does not—Andie soon finds herself vowing to never make the same mistake again. But, she’d do it again in a heartbeat and she knows it. She’d marry a hundred strangers if it helped Nick. She’d do anything for Nick . . . anything.
Praise for For Nick This is another winner by Taylor Dean! It only took me a little over a day to read this book because it's such a page turner! What would you do to save the one you love most in the world? Marry a stranger? That's exactly what Andie has to do for the love of her life Nick. This story is so sweet and wonderfully written. It's a beautiful story of love and sacrifice. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster! Absolutely worth the read! ~Christy of Christy's Cozy Corners
I love this book!! It seemed like a happy ending early on but since there was a lot of book left, I realized that something big was going to happen. Zach and Andie are adorable together and I loved watching their relationship develop into something real. But Nick was always looming in the background and definitely isn't a relationship Andie is going to let go of. I'm not giving any spoilers with this so you'll have to read this book yourself to find out who Nick is and why Andie won't let that relationship go. I cried a lot towards the end. If you need a good cry, grab some tissues and curl up with this book! ~Melanie of Mel's Shelves
Hang onto your emotions with this story, because they will be running all over the place, and you don't want them to get away. One minute you'll be sighing with joy, the next your mascara will be running down your face--you know, that kind of emotional meltdown type of book. I adored both Andie and Zach. They are so funny and cute together, and their ongoing alliteration game was right up my alley. The emotions throughout this book are extreme--no blah, mediocre feelings in this tale! No way! This is my 5th Taylor Dean book, and it's hard to pick a favorite...but this has to be in the top 2 for the surprises it held. ~Charissa of Joy in the Moments
Author Taylor Dean Taylor Dean lives in Texas and is the mother of four grown children. Upon finding herself with an empty nest, she began to write the stories that were always wandering around in her head, quickly finding that she had a passion for writing, specifically romance. Whether it’s paranormal, contemporary, or suspense—you’ll find all sub-genres of romance in her line-up.

Book Spotlight and Giveaway: Midnight Masquerade by Marcia Lynn McClure
Midnight Masquerade Stavos Voronin was not as blind-eyed as many nobles and royals. Evony’s physical gestures—even the simplest movement of her hands—revealed that she had not always been destitute. The same was true of the children—of their polished manners and the boy’s knowledge of horses and tendency to be bold and fearless of strangers. Ah yes, Stavos enjoyed a good mystery. After all, interest in the inexplicable circumstances surrounding the royals of Abawyth was the very thing that had lured him to the kingdom—the enigma of Abawyth’s twelve sleepy princesses. And yet now—now his mind was all the more intrigued. Not only was the obscurity of what had caused the profound and baffling torpidity of Abawyth’s princesses laid out before him, but also he found his curiosity intensely piqued over the riddle surrounding the very lovely Evony and her siblings. As Stavos strode through the village resting on the outskirts of Abawyth Castle, his mind reeled with possibilities. His musings were drawn back to why he had come to Abawyth at all—to solve the conundrum surrounding the twelve beautiful princesses of Abawyth kingdom—to solve the seemingly impenetrable crux and thereby win the hand of one of Abawyth’s princesses, as his father, King Letholdus of Ethiarien, had commanded.
Book Excerpt:
She was tired—oh so very, very tired. Never—not in all her life—had Evony Elorietta known such thoroughgoing fatigue. As she trudged out of the dark woods still veiled in the shadows of early sunrise, out across the expanse of cold, dew-drenched grass and onto the main road of the village, Evony wondered how she would ever endure a day that was only just beginning. Every bone in her body ached—every muscle throbbed in misery, every inch of her flesh begged for respite. Yet there would be none—at least not until she had finished her stitching—finished the near thirteen hours of sewing she now faced under the ever observant, incessantly critical eye of seamstress Agnes Teche.
After such a long, chilled, and sleepless night spent in watching—peering through the darkness and into the rooms of the inn in the woods, until her eyes were too dry to watch any longer—after listening to the shallow, often vile conversations, until her ears hurt from the foul ferment of it—Evony dreaded sewing for Mrs. Teche more than ever before. The woman was a banshee of an employer. And yet, she was grateful Mrs. Teche had had the keen eye to recognize Evony’s superior skills with needle and thread—for how else would Evony have managed to feed Mikol and Tressa—to shelter them—to keep them hidden?

Weekly Update (9/4/13) School, Weddings, Books & Candles for Breast Cancer!
So sorry that my posting has been so sporadic. In addition to work, my Fall semester has started. My campus is an hour and forty-five minutes drive from where I live and work. It's a drive I don't like but it has to be done. I need to go to the library to get some audio books so that in the long drive, I can at least get some reading done. The class is on Crisis Intervention, something that will come in handy in either of my degrees (Criminal Justice and Social Work) as well as my job and even in my home life. Hopefully it turns out to be worth the drive.
On the wedding front, I went two weekends ago and bought my dress. It was pretty much love at first sight. I tried on about five dresses, and it came down to the one I bought - which makes me feel beautiful and amazing and another shorter dress, that would have been more comfortable for walking and dancing. In the end dress number one won out. It was an incredibly emotional experience. Two of my friends went, but I really wish that my mom, niece, and cousin could have been there with me as well. Buying the dress, really brings home the fact that this is real - My wedding is really happening.
Last month, my friend and I went to Las Vegas, where the wedding will happen, to the Las Vegas Bridal Spectacular. I met Sam Saboura from Something Borrowed, Something Blue. I also got tons of ideas for my wedding. I was a runner up in the makeover competition but it was still worth the trip! I got to spend time with my Vegas friends and experience some off strip restaurants that were amazing. I tried Vietnamese food for the first time. I know love Pho! We also went to the top of the Stratosphere to Club 107 for reverse happy hour (Midnight to 3:00 a.m.). Is this view amazing?
Reviews are coming soon for most of these books.
On the candle front, all the summer scents are on sale until they run out. Get Mango Cooler, Sliced Watermelon, Black Cherry, Beach, Coconut Lime Verbena and more while you still can. My Gold Canyon Candles Shop
The Breast Cancer Support candle has been redone, and is in a gorgeous new container, but is still the amazing pink sugar cookie scent. Gold Canyon Candles donates 10% of all sales of this candle to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For all of September and October I will be donating 20% of all sales to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life. Help out two great causes AND get a wonderfully smelling candle! Makes a great gift. Purchase at www.jennifergolub.mygc.com
How has everyone else's week been so far? What are you reading? Know of any great book sales? Have a product you love that you'd like to share? I'd love to hear from you!
